Loving God, Serving Others, Welcoming All

Cross & Crown is an ELCA-affiliated Lutheran church in Matthews, NC. For nearly 30 years, we've fostered a welcoming congregation that loves God and cares for each other. At Cross & Crown, you'll find opportunities for uplifting worship, spiritual growth, Christian fellowship, and community service. Come join us for worship services and Sunday School on Sundays and for other ministry activities throughout the week.

Sometimes it is hard to keep up with the ever-changing details regarding COVID, but at Cross & Crown we are committed to supporting and caring for one another. Here is what you can expect at worship on Sunday mornings:
  • All those attending worship must wear a mask
  • We are not limiting the number of people who can worship in-person
  • We share God's peace with a wave, elbow bump or peace sign
  • Children's sermon with kids remaining seated with their family, rather than moving to the front of the church
  • Communion is in the sanctuary with wafers and disposable cups for wine or grape juice (gluten free also available)
  • For those not comfortable worshipping in person, our 10:45 am service is also live streamed and available via our YouTube channel or Facebook page.

New Service Coming Soon: Deep Roots

    Deep Roots

Bummed that you missed church on Sunday morning?
Looking for a great start to the week?
Miss the camp songs you haven't sung in years?
Just love coming to church and exploring a new opportunity?

We are excited to announce a new outdoor service, Deep Roots, starting Sunday, November 7th at 5:30 p.m. This will be an informal worship experience with guitars, prayers of the people (written by the congregation), and an interactive homily. Scripture often refers to us being rooted in Christ. This is another opportunity for you to explore, with one another, how we can establish our faith deep in scripture, deep in worship, deep in community. All are welcome to Deep Roots.

We hope to see you in the parking lot in front of the portico on Sundays at 5:30 p.m.
