This week's sermon is based on Mark 8:31-38 where Jesus rebukes Peter for focusing on human things as opposed to divine things. Then follows the paradox: One must lose one's life in order to save it. To profit the whole world is to forfeit one's life. This is the first of three predictions of Jesus' suffering, rejection, death, and resurrection in the gospel of Mark.
